Finding employment can be easy for some, however for most job seekers, it turns out as a difficult task. If you have spent months applying from one company to another unsuccessfully, here are some tips:
  • Stay positive. Being unemployed months after your graduation can dampen anyone’s spirit but you must strive to stay positive. Do not lose hope and do not give up.
  • Improve your skills. You are more likely to land a job if you possess important job skills. Make sure your qualifications, skills, talents, and achievements are properly highlighted in your resume.
  • Assess yourself. Ask yourself, “What could be the reason why I’m still unable to get a job until now?”
        Is it because I lack confidence?
        Is it because I do not possess good interpersonal skills?
        Find out the answers and endeavor to correct them.
  • Consider relocating. The economic downturn has certainly caused a lot of companies to seize hiring and even retrench their employees. If this is the reason why you are having a hard time getting a job, consider the possibility of moving to another city, state, or even country where there is still a sufficient demand for job seekers with your qualification, skills, and background.

There are few good options that you can explore to deal with being unemployed.
  • Look for unpaid internships. Although you will not get any income from such internships, they will nevertheless help you hone your skills and give you the experience you need to become a more valuable candidate for job openings in your field of expertise.
  • Start your own business. A lot of job seekers have become entrepreneurs and business owners, and some have even become quite successful. Opening up a business requires a capital and a solid business plan so before take this route make sure you meet both the requirements.
  • Change your career direction. Perhaps the job market for your specific major is already quite saturated; in this case, it would be wiser to seek alternative options where you will stand a better chance of getting a job.
